Eileen M. Hagerty will be a member of the distinguished faculty for Lehigh University College of Education’s annual week-long Special Education Law Symposium, Ms. Hagerty will present on June 22, 2022. Dan Heffernan will be presenting at Special Needs Advocacy Network's Annual BSEA Updates (live webinar only) on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dan Heffernan will review the 2020 BSEA case rulings from across Massachusetts. Dan's selection of cases will reflect those which he feels may represent trends in the interpretation of special education laws. For the eleventh consecutive year, Eileen M. Hagerty was co-organizer (with Catherine L. Lyons) of MCLE’s annual School Law Conference. The 20th Annual School Law Conference was held on August 12, 2020 (rescheduled from March 27, 2020) from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., exclusively by webcast. Dan Heffernan presented Basic Rights in Education at Newton PAC meeting on November 7, 2018 from 7:30-9:00, Room 210, Newton Education Center, 100 Walnut Street, Newton, MA. The presentation covered parent and student rights in special education, including an overview of special education law, a discussion of IEPs, the responsibilities of the school district, approaches to resolving disagreements or disputes, etc. There was also time for questions and answers.May 31, 2017
Dan Heffernan (with Colby C. Brunt and Rosa I. Figueroa) was a panel member at "How to Try Your 1st (or Next) Case Before the BSEA" which took place on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, at MCLE Conference Center, Ten Winter Place, Boston, MA and was also available by live webcast (either simultaneously or at a later date). This program provided a comprehensive overview of getting a case in shape for filing, preliminary proceedings before the BSEA, and preparing for, and going through a hearing in this unique forum.April 12, 2017
